“Puppy” is an Important Cultural Property of Japan: a wooden statue from the Kamakura period in the 13th century owned by the famous priest Myo'e of Kosan-ji Temple in Kyoto. ( known also for their ancient cultural property, Chōjū-giga "Scrolls of Frolicking Animals" often credited as the first manga in the history of Japan) Myo’e has written about his respect and love for dogs in his many writings, and this charming statue which he constantly kept by his side is said to be one of the greatest of all animal sculptures created in Japan. The writer, Naoya Shiga has written that this is a statue that has the natural appeal to make one want to rub and stroke its lovable body.

This is a soft-vinyl figure of this very special masterpiece in a reduced size.
